Welcome to the Shalby Tissue Bank, a pioneering initiative by Shalby Hospitals dedicated to advancing medical care through the production of high-quality Pure Allograft. As a non-profit division, our mission is to enhance patient outcomes by providing irradiated allogenic cancellous bone grafts specifically designed for dental implant surgeries and Orthopaedic surgeries.
Gamma irradiation is our preferred method for sterilizing grafts as it ensures safety and extends shelf life by using Cobalt-60 to deeply penetrate and disrupt microbial DNA, preventing growth while sterilizing within the final packaging to reduce handling and minimize contamination risks without leaving any residual toxicity.
Allografts provide a seamless and efficient solution, eliminating the need for additional procedures and leading to quicker recovery times and enhanced comfort. With ready-to-use availability and rigorous safety standards, they offer a reliable option that ensures high-quality outcomes. The combination of convenience and effectiveness makes allografts an ideal choice for achieving optimal results
A tissue bank is similar to a blood bank. It procures, processes and preserves donated tissues as biomedical waste for transplantation.
Living donors can donate bone removed during knee and hip replacement surgery. This bone would otherwise be discarded as bio-medical waste.
In certain situations the long bones from an amputated limb can be donated.
Amnion obtained during deliveries can also be banked and used as a biological dressing.
Deceased donors can donate a variety of tissues such as bone, cartilage, tendons, heart valves, blood vessels, skin and nerves.
Persons free from any transmissible disease can donate their tissues. Routine blood investigations are needed and a doctor will screen the donor for eligibility.
There are no expenses to the donor or his/her family during tissue donation.
This is a noble cause similar to blood donation. Donors or their relatives will get the satisfaction of helping another patient with their tissues which would otherwise have been discarded or cremated/buried.
